What Are Thread Lifts?

FDA approved PDO Threads are used to gently pull your skin up providing a lifting action that dermal fillers alone cannot achieve. PDO Threads are made of a very common substance called Polydioxanone, used in surgical procedures for decades and commonly known as self-dissolving sutures. New Radiance is a provider of Mint PDO Threads and Suneva Silhouette InstaLift threads.

These threads are fully absorbed within 4 to 8 months. During that period of time, a lot is taking place. The placement of the threads stimulates collagen synthesis. The structure created will hold for another 12 to 15 months providing more lift than can be achieved with just fillers alone.

PDO threads come in many different sizes, shapes and thickness. They can be used almost anywhere to create lift: on the face or body such as necks, jawline, décolletage, buttocks and just above the knees.

PDO Threads

PDO threads are surgical sutures inserted under the skin. In this example, the patient desired lifting lax skin (left) to reshape the appearance of skin around the mouth, jawline and neck (center). PDO Threads provide substantial results (right). *As with any medical treatment, individual results vary.

How Do PDO Thread Lifts Work?

PDO threads (Polydioxanone) are surgical sutures that have been used for decades in surgery and biomedical applications, particularly in heart surgery. PDO threads are sutures that:

  • Fully dissolve within 4 to 8 months.
  • Don’t create any scar tissue.
  • Stimulate collagen production so that the structural hold on the skin provides lifting benefits for another 12 to 15 months.
  • Provide a substantial lifting effect that dermal fillers alone cannot accomplish.

PDO Threads are used to achieve the patient’s personal esthetic goals alone or in combination with other treatments. For example: using dermal fillers to restore lost volume to the face and using PDO Threads to lift sagging skin, reduce skin laxity and produce collagen and elastin in the treated areas.
