IPL Photo Facial Removes Age Spots, Sun Spots, Liver Spots, Pigmentation & Dyschromia
IPL Photofacial specifically targets age and sun related spots. It corrects hyperpigmentation and malasma issues. It stimulates new collagen growth that reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
It is very effective at improving the appearance of sun damaged, aged skin since it can remove brown spots and redness, age spots and small facial veins resulting in blemish free and youthful-looking skin.*
IPL Photo Facial treatments also consistently and predictably improve texture, tone and color of the skin. IPL has also been shown to stimulate the growth of new collagen as well as decrease pore size, giving skin a more youthful appearance. Other areas on the body with spots and sun damage, such as the chest, décolletage, hands, arms, back, and legs can be treated.*

Improve the Appearance of Sun Damaged Skin
IPL improves the appearance of sun-damaged and aged skin and can help eliminate unsightly dark spots and redness, resulting in more youthful-looking skin. IPL Photo Facial treatments consistently and predictably improve the texture, tone and color of the skin with little to no down time. IPL also stimulates the growth of collagen to help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, decreases pore size and gives skin a youthful appearance. Any area on the body, such as the chest, hands, arms, back, and legs can be treated with IPL Photofacial.*
Typically a series of 3 IPL treatments is performed but substantial results are seen after just one treatment. A day or two after treatment sun and age spots will get even darker and then begin to flake off.  This occurs if pigment is superficially located in the layers of your skin. When pigment is located in the deeper layers of skin, as is often the case in melasma, there may be little initial darkening of pigment and a series of treatments will be needed.  Although it is not always possible to eliminate all spots and discoloration, dramatic improvement is common.*

Frequently Asked Questions
What is IPL Photo Facial?
IPL Photo Facial is a laser treatment that uses photorejuvenation to improve the appearance of skin by targeting and eliminating age spots, sun spots, skin discoloration and visable vessels.
How Does IPL Photo Facial work?
IPL targets cells that contain the excess pigment and then causes the pigment to rise to the surface of the skin where it sloughs off. Because pigmentation cells are deposited at various levels/layers of the skin, it typically takes 3 treatments to obtain optimal results. For facial redness IPL zaps and closes down the tiny blood vessels that cause the redness. IPL can be used to treat all areas of the body.*
What Happens During the Treatment?
The IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) laser is passed over the skin, delivering pulses of laser light that last less than a millisecond. As the laser is passed over the skin, it delivers energy in short second pulses. The treatment is progressively applied to the target treatment areas. The entire procedure typically requires between 30 minutes to 1 hour to perform, depending on the areas being treated and the patient goals.*
What Side Effects Are Typical with the Treatment?
As with any medical procedure, side effects and healing time vary by patient. IPL Photo Facial side effect can include: redness, swelling, minor bruising, itchiness, peeling and scabbing.*
Your free consultation will identify if you are a good candidate. At the consultation, you will be informed of the expected extent of your procedure to achieve your goals, the expected recovery period and how soon after the treatment you may expect to see full results.*
How Much Does the Treatment Cost?
Laser skin resurfacing starts at $149 for a focus area treatment. Full face treatment starts at $349. More than one treatment may be required, depending on your personal goals and skin condition.*
What Should I Expect During the Treatment?
We will apply a topical numbing cream to make your treatment as comfortable as possible. IPL Photo Facial typically requires 30 to 60 minutes to perform. After the procedure, your skin may be covered with Aquaphor – a petroleum jelly – to protect your skin and promote faster healing.*
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
During your free consultation, we will advise you on the number of IPL treatments you’ll need to achieve your personal goals. Patients typically start with one treatment. Once the results of the first treatment are seen over several months, the treated area will be reassessed to determine if another treatment is needed.*
IPL treatment results per treatment vary based on skin quality and thickness and the settings used on the device during the treatment. When more aggressive settings are used, patients typically see significant improvement with one treatment.*
Is There Downtime with IPL Photo Facial?
There is minimal downtime with IPL. To avoid complications and obtain the best possible outcome, it is recommended that you stay out of the sun for a week or two and avoid direct sun exposure for 48 hours before your treatment. Treatments should never be done over recently tanned skin. Staying out of the sun during the 2 weeks following treatment when spots are flaking off and new skin is exposed is also important.*
Most people experience a mild, sun-burn like sensation, possibly accompanied by some minor swelling, immediately following the treatment. This usually lasts 2 to 24 hours. Speak with your provider to discuss other possible side-effects and the necessary post-treatment care.*
How Long Do Results Last?
With use of sun protection, the results can last for years. Skin is genetically programmed to pigment in response to UV radiation exposure. It is impossible to avoid all sun exposure but the more avoidance the less pigment. Even with the best of skin care and protection, new brown spots may emerge gradually over time.*
It is recommended that a skin care regimen be followed. To protect your skin, you should use sun screen and also utilize skin care products designed to suppress new development spots and discoloration.*
